Oil Painting 12 - Castlefield with white skies

I can see where LS Lowry was coming from with his white Manchester skies, the overcast or raining 3 or 4 days we spent in Castlefield unexpectedly brought out very Lowryesque treatments of the landscape with the stark whites, warm red bricks and grey. The more time I was spending on this piece the more the towpath was lightening up and it was probably good that I stopped before adding a matchstick man and could be done for plagiarism. That being said I thoroughly enjoyed exploring this landscape and my time in the centre of the city. I only wish the rain had let up a little more to facilitate more paintings, but then I guess that wouldn't be Manchester.
